Start with shots, not scorelines, and the Netherlands are producing plenty of them. In their last Nations League outing they had 67.2% possession and 25 shots against Serbia, eight of them on target, and won 2-1. Three days earlier they drew 1-1 with Germany. Across those two games the Netherlands have scored three goals with the underlying shot volume to have scored more.
Greece's route to their own results has looked different. They beat Serbia 2-1 on the 24th and then beat Germany 1-0 three days later with only 24.5% possession and eight shots in total — two low-event, backs-to-the-wall performances that still delivered three goals for and two against across the pair. Greece top the group on six points from two, but they are not creating much, and they are not keeping clean sheets either: they have conceded in one of their last two wins despite barely being played through.
Put a Dutch side generating 25 shots a game up against a Greek defence that has shipped goals even under very little pressure, and the total-goals line looks light.
