Switzerland won their Nations League opener 3-0 away at North Macedonia with 58.7% possession, 23 shots and 11 on target - about as dominant as an away performance gets. And yet they only won 5 corners. That's not a one-off: in their two most recent World Cup send-off friendlies before that, against Algeria and Canada, they won 4 and 2 corners respectively. Three matches, three low corner counts, regardless of whether they were on top (North Macedonia, Algeria) or under the cosh (Canada, where they had only 55.3% and still just 2 corners).
Scotland's numbers don't point the other way either.
