Sassuolo vs Fiorentina Prediction and Tips: Corners
Nadia Ferreira looks at two bottom-half Serie A sides whose matches keep opening up, and prices the corners market at the Mapei Stadium.
The prediction is at the end of the analysis ↓Two bottom-half sides producing open, end-to-end matches
Sassuolo and Fiorentina arrive at the Mapei Stadium in the bottom half of Serie A for very different reasons but with the same recent pattern: matches with goals at both ends. Sassuolo, 15th with eight points from nine games, have shipped 15 goals in their last five league matches alone - a 2-6 home defeat to Lazio, a 0-2 loss at Como and a 2-4 defeat at Frosinone among them - while scoring six of their own in that spell.
Fiorentina's position is worse still: 18th and bottom of the table with five points from nine, winless in their last five Serie A games (0-2-3), conceding ten and scoring six in that run, including a 2-2 home draw with Atalanta on Thursday and back-to-back away defeats at Internazionale and Como.
Corners follow attacking volume more than the scoreline, and both sides have been generating and facing a high number of final-third entries simply by being behind or chasing games most weeks. Fiorentina in particular, regularly playing from behind away from home, tend to commit men forward and win set pieces late on; Sassuolo's leaky defence means Fiorentina should get time on the ball in good areas even without being the better side on the day.
We could not confirm either side's starting wide players, who matter most for a corners count, so the stake is kept to 0.75 units. With both teams used to matches that open up, the pick is over 9.5 corners at 1.98.

Team news
We have not found confirmed line-ups for either side, including whether Fiorentina's usual wide players start after three defeats in four. The stake reflects that uncertainty.
Both sides have also played some low-corner, low-event games this season (Sassuolo's 1-1 with AC Milan, for instance); if either manager sets up defensively to avoid a third defeat in four, the corner count could stay under.
Verdict
At 1.98, over 9.5 corners implies roughly a 51% chance. Both sides have been involved in high-event, back-and-forth matches for most of October - Sassuolo have conceded 15 goals and Fiorentina ten in their last five league games each - which points to a high number of final-third attacks and the corners that come with them, even if neither side is playing well.
