Iris covers the puzzles you didn’t know you needed a review of. The Daily Themed Crossword, the various 9x9 midi grids, the freemium word-search apps with five-star reviews and shockingly bad ad density. She is the only writer on staff with the patience to actually finish those things; her reviews are why the magazine’s coverage is broader than the “top six puzzles” consensus.
She joined in early 2025 after eight months of writing the magazine’s daily companion column for the midi grids. She also maintains the internal style guide, which is the document the rest of us pretend to follow when we’re writing and she pretends to believe us when we’re editing.
i Off-duty
Knits, reads short fiction, and runs a small Discord for cosy puzzlers who explicitly don’t want to optimise their solve times. The Discord description is the only thing on the internet that uses the phrase “chill leaderboard” non-ironically.
